The initial project was to create a space to house the stories of the Fifth Air Force and Galeão Air Base. It would not be possible to portray the history of these units without citing, on the BAGL side, the National Air Mail Post; and, on the V FAE side, the Transport Aviation Meeting and Brazilian Transport Aviation itself.
The initial phase of the work was the layout project, which, in a preliminary and summarized way, distributed the available furniture in the hall, the technical reserve and the Former Commanders gallery.
project
The second phase of the project was historical research. There was a study on the history of Transport Aviation, the BAGL, the PCAN-GL, the V FAE and the Transport Aviation Meeting. This material had to be harmoniously distributed throughout the hall, and the solution I created to present this information clearly was to create panels for the respective entities portrayed in the project. These panels bear, at the top, the emblem of the portrayed institution.
Special attention was given to the Former Commanders galleries of the BAGL and V FAE units, since the place would now receive the Former Commanders gallery of the newly created Ala 11. In creating these galleries I tried to rescue the most striking symbology of these units. In the case of the V FAE, the gauntlets and the unit’s main building; in the case of the BAGL, the core of the BAGL emblem with the Command building in the background.
Layout project for the Former Commanders Gallery
For this work I created five digital canvas prints for the panels of the parts that make up the great Brazilian Transport Aviation: the Galeão Air Base panel, the Ala 11 panel, the National Air Mail panel, the Fifth Air Force panel and the Transport Aviation panel.
artworks
For the exhibition items, artifacts were chosen that somehow symbolize the history, activities and deeds of the entities portrayed in the historical hall, from the units’ standards to a historic sabre, gifted by the Brazilian Army to the BAGL.
